This is actually one of those fashion shows that I would love to attend the most—one that features gowns.
L’OREAL PARIS, official beauty partner of PFW, brings to life the Grecian goddess-inspired, ethereal collection of the world-renowned and award winning Fashion Designer, Michael Cinco, who was fresh from his victory for bagging the Breakthrough Designer of the Year 2011 for WSGN’s Global Fashion Awards held in New York.
The runway is actually simple, with a trampouline-like centerstage, and an Egyptian brick backdrop. Seeing the center of the stage, I knew all along that it would be significant. I will elaborate on that later :p
The playlist of the fashion show is an upbeat instrumental, that sounding like of a tribal routine. Even though it’s actually loud, the beat is just pleasing to the ears, and it definitely matched the show’s concept.
Moving on to the dresses, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the descending color palettes of the gowns, from white, to canary yellow, to orange, to red, to brown, to black (well not much of the black), then back to white. I was like watching the most beautiful sunset on Earth. The detailed cuts in front and at the back of each and every gown is very well thought of. I was amazed by the Swarovski crystals and sequins, laser-cut ceramics, and tone-on-tone embroidery. The designs of the gowns at the back are as detailed as their front view. BRAVO.
There were less suits for man, just nearly naked and muscular male models, most of them in underwears. :p
This immediately became a dream wedding gown.
L'Oreal's goddess, Anne Curtis-Smith.
And here comes the highlight of the show (aside from the dresses, of course). The five nearly naked men gathered in a circular blocking in the centerstage, then came out a model in a thick black coat covering her upper body. She walked around the runway first, the centerstage as her last stop. Then water started flowing from above. Yes, just like that of a shower. The male models just stood still, while the female was doing hand and hip movements, imitating that of a tribal Greek? I don’t know how to explain that exactly. But that moment was just breath-taking. I actually felt I was watching an international fashion show.
The designer of the night who made every gown drool-worthy, THE Michael Cinco. APPLAUSE!!!!!!!!
I with two of Philippines' fashion icons, Bianca Gonzales and Raymond Gutierrez.
I SALUTE YOU, MICHAEL CINCO!
